What is Self Hypnosis ?

Self Hypnosis is when you hypnotize yourself, and do not have a hypnotist there to guide you. It is a state of mind which occurs  naturally where there is a heightened state of concentration. A person will be in a trance and must be open to receiving their own suggestions. In order to do self hypnosis you may want to have a quiet place and  chair to sit on. You need to be able to count to 25 and a willingness to follow your own instructions.

When you hypnotize yourself it may last for 15 to 25 minutes or sometimes longer. You can use a tape which you made for yourself. Or can ask for one to be made for you.

You will learn  to do the first part of self hypnosis during your first session. I break it down into 3 parts. During the second and third sessions you will learn parts 2 and 3. Self Hypnosis is sometimes used as a stress management tool.

Some Myths about Hypnosis

The statement "not everyone can be hypnotized", is not true. Each and everyone of us can be hypnotized. Have you ever driven on the highway and driven right by your exit? That is known as highway hypnosis. Do you ever get so engrossed in reading a good book that you fail to hear what is going on around you. Like being called to dinner. Everyone experiences a trancelike state each time they use their imagination.

A hypnotist does not have any power over you when you are hypnotized and can not make you do anything you do not wish to do. You are in complete control and can bring yourself out of trance at any time during the session.

The job of the hypnotist is to help you communicate with your subconscious mind to help you overcome obstacles and acheive your goals.

Can you remain stuck in hypnosis? Absolutely not. You may enjoy trance so much that you will not want to come out, but you will.
